The Nursery School as a space where life condenses. Second session Cine Forum

From the Nursery Schools, we welcome babies who are only four months old into the world and we accompany many of them in their first three years of life, where achievements and conquests become giant steps. I have always thought that a Nursery School is a space where life is condensed: again separations, duels, sadness, suffering... but also joy, surprise, discovery, beauty, excitement, novelty... all these words inhabit the classrooms and hallways invisibly. of a nursery school. Life is taking shape and the world begins to expand here like the sea on the horizon of a beach...

On Saturday, February 27, we had the opportunity to have the second Cine Forum meeting of the cycle titled The art of educating. Complex task. We had the opportunity to enjoy the movie Monsieur Lazhar, a film directed by the director Philippe Falardeau filmed in 2011. It is a film of Canadian origin whose script is inspired by a play written by Evelyne de la Chenelière. The film takes place in a school and, in particular, in a classroom in the last year of primary school in Quebec, Canada. Its director comments in an interview: “A school is like a laboratory of society. We have all gone to school, our age doesn't matter, we all have memories and we know that in school everything is possible: we learn to read and count, to love, to cheat, to lie, to hate, to make alliances, to resolve conflicts , to establish friendly relationships... And sometimes death appears and there are tragedies. There is a lot of politics, a lot of bureaucracy, just like in society.” This film does not take place in a Kindergarten School, but in it, as a metaphor for all schools, perhaps as its director says, also for society, we see how life spreads its wings.

After the screening of the film we had the opportunity and the pleasure of listening to three women with very diverse backgrounds, who intertwined their speeches creating a panoramic vision, moving us with an education that became everyone's business. MArta Sancho, Director of the Infant School of the Congress of Deputies, a vocational childhood educator, whose starting point was When silence speaks for itself and the need to communicate emerges. The second intervention, which was carried out by Beatriz Azagra psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, school counselor at a school for many years, brought us closer to the world of puberty and grief with the suggestive phrase: “Where “The word and the encounter with the other will make life possible.” And finally, to Patricia Ferreira, filmmaker and screenwriter of numerous films, among which we can find some interesting titles such as “Children wild”, who closed the presentation session by telling us about how Education is not understood without mutual respect. They began the path of reflection, and paved the way for the interesting debate that the film and its interventions sparked.

Thank you to all attendees and we hope to see you at the next and last meeting of this course: ANINA on April 9, “The important things go back and forth.”
