Children's music on World Rock Day

Today is the world rock and roll day and we want to take advantage of this opportunity that the calendar gives us to sit down and think about children's music.

We have all had our experiences with music intended for children. Many of them may have been related to traditional songs, they may even sing them to you. Lyrics performed by professionals who seek to connect with the audience by infantilizing their costumes and their voices in front of a stage or a video clip with endless colors and striking decorations.

But today we want to make you aware that there is life beyond. We just have to draw the curtain and look in another direction in the children's and family offering, to expand musical culture from an early age.

In 2016, the animated film 'Sing' got children and adults to sing and dance to songs ranging from 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra to 'Shake It Off' by Taylor Swift. A true declaration of intentions for the enjoyment of music as a family.

There are many artists who advocate quality music for our boys and girls. As an audience, they deserve all the respect and by that we mean that they are worthy of real music. Melodies played with real instruments; music created and designed by and for them, with lyrics in which they feel represented and not only talk about farm animals and all kinds of objects in diminutive, with which as they grow they develop their own musical taste . Music with values, that contributes and invites you to reflect.

In our country we have very good examples of this and we recommend that you start investigating to be able to follow your favorites.

The brat band, Dubbi kids or Zascanduri that, maintaining a childlike aesthetic, connect with their audience with original lyrics and music that your feet, hips and shoulders will not be able to resist.

Chumi chuma and the Billy boom band are children's music groups that move away from everything that has until now been known as such. Its aesthetics, staging, networks and hosts demonstrate it since the production or even components are members of Vetusta Morla or La Sonrisa de Julia. If you still don't know their themes, we are sure that you will love these discoveries.

There are children's groups such as the successful Furious Monkey House (made up of singer and musicians aged 10 to 13) and Miniband (which, from being a simple school band, have filled festivals and recorded their first video clip) and very young musicians who fill halls or who already They are opening acts for great rock bands.

And also, we have I am a mouse. A group that with its concept of a protest song has empowered the little ones and has become a reference style for many families. At their concerts you cannot differentiate between fans and companions.

Beyond our borders we suggest you get to know Los topos and Tu rockcito, pure rock and roll with lyrics worthy of your attention.

Rock is a musical style that can undoubtedly unite the whole family enjoying a common hobby; in turn strengthening our bond. No more arguing in the car about what music to listen to.

We leave you some Spotify playlists that can serve as an introduction: 101 pop rock songs for children. You will find legendary songs like beautiful day by U2 or nothing else matters by Metallica and milestones of the genre like Bruce Springsteen, Loquillo or Alicia Keys.

The rock list for children has a selection of songs from the groups that we have presented to you in previous paragraphs.

If you like rock and you don't know how to transmit it to your sons and daughters, we bring you the proposal of “Rock en familia”, which organizes family concerts to bring rock to boys and girls. They have singing and guitar classes and this week they offer a free course for fathers and mothers so that they can learn to transmit music and different musical styles to the little ones in the house.

There are no longer excuses for everything our little ones listen to is fast food.

Until next time. The show must go on
